20# double-faced sledge hammer with a hickory handle.
*Forged from tool steel, Made in USA, with clear lacquer finish to
deter rust.
*Striking faces are precision machined with proper radius and chamfer.
*Heat Treated after machining for increased depth of hardness. (Many
makers show a turned striking face. This may look more attractive but means they
cut off hardened material, leaving less depth.)
*Heat treatment process produces fine grain structure and RC
45-54 (Rockwell for safety and toughness).
*Clear lacquer finish on head to deter rust.
*36" American hickory handle, kiln dried before turning and the eye section
is dried below 10% moisture content prior to assembly.
*Handle is hydraulically inserted into head and secured with a serrated
aluminum wedge. A very secure mechanical bond. Some handle length if removed
during fitting the handle to the head-typically 1/2 to 1".
*Meets or exceeds ASME B107.54-2001. |
